If a Medicare verification (OPV) returns an error code 8018 it means that the patient's date of birth entered doesn't match Medicare records. You will not be able to submit a claim for this patient until it is resolved.
- Check you've correctly entered the DoB and re-verify
- Check with the patient, and correct the entry
- If the patient confirms the DoB is correct then Medicare has a different date recorded. In this case the patient must contact Medicare to correct it
Once this is resolved you will be able to submit claims for this patient.
