The Theatre List module allows you to manage theatre Lists for external hospitals.
Key features:
- Use the appointment system to record theatre bookings and follow up booking.
- New appointment fields for theatre bookings such as procedure, hospital notes, fasting time, plus more.
- Print formatted theatre lists.
- Create and print formatted operation reports.
- Record if all preparatory steps have been completed for a theatre list.
- Assign default anaesthetists to a theatre list.
System Administration

To create brand new theatre Calendar Session Types follow these steps:
1. Update calendar settings
- Click Administration.
- Click Appointments.
- Select Calendar Session Types.
- Click Show and Edit.
- Enabled For Theatre = YES (Checked).
- Select the Service Location for this theatre list.
- Service location that prints on the theatre List printout for sessions of this Session Type. If not selected the Location of the appointment will display instead.
- Click Update Calendar Settings.
2. Create new calendar session type
- Click Administration → Appointments → Calendar Session Types.
- Click the New button.
- Fill in the fields based on the table below.
- When done, click Create Calendar Session Type.
Field | Description |
Name | Give the session a descriptive name |
Location | Specify the location that has the hospital Service Location under it. |
Enabled For Theatre | Indicates that this Session Type should have the extra fields required for external Theatre bookings. It also activates Theatre fields for any appointments booked into this a session of this Session Type and makes the session appear on the Theatre List screen. Set this to YES (TRUE). |
Service Location (if Enabled for Theatre ticked) | Service location that the theatre will be performed at. This prints on the Theatre List printout for sessions of this Session Type. If not selected the Location of the appointment will display instead. Tips: ·The service location is filtered based on the Location selected for this Calendar Session Type. If you can't find the service location try changing the location. ·If you don't bill via CareRight for these theatre procedures, then leave this blank. |

Colour | Coloured background for the session (appointments will have a smaller slab of colour so contrast against this). You can select from the picker or enter the hex value. |
Default Appointment Type | When creating an appointment in this session, this appointment type will be automatically selected. The choice can then be changed to a different appointment type. So a Review Session may default to Appointment Type "Review (short)" |

Anaesthetic Choices are used in the Create/Edit Appointment screen. They allow the user to indicate the type of anaesthetic a theatre booking requires.
Create new Anaesthetic Choice:
- Click Administration.
- Click Appointments.
- Click Anaesthetic Choices.
- Click New.
- Complete remaining fields using the table below as a reference.
- Click Create Anaesthetic Choice.

Usage
Manage Theatre Booking/appointments

The user is able to indicate whether all administrative planning for an theatre list has been completed. If the user has ticked Planning Complete, if will be unticked automatically (by CareRight) if the following occurs:
- An appointment in the session is edited; or,
- A new appointment is added to the session.
