Release Notes for CareRight 7.3.0
Major Features
Charts
Experimental feature: This is not generally available to all customers at this time, and is subject to further revision.
Main article: Charts
We have extended the core capabilities of our Metrics and Assessments functionality; allowing for a Chart to be created. In the CareRight context, a Chart is a series of Smart Forms/Assessments that focus on key metrics, and displayed over time.
The CareRight system is pre-loaded with a number of Observation Chart standards; with the expected ranges for a patient pre-defined per chart.
Example: Configuring a NSW Health Standard Paediatric Observation Chart, 12 years+, Heart Rate criteria; as opposed to a general adult.
CareRight also supports Altered physiology/goals within the context of a chart (aka Altered Calling Criteria), as well being able to captured in general for a clinical to describe what is typical.
We expect to further evolve this functionality to integrate more deeply with our workflow capabilities and automated scoring. IE; where observations and the guidance of your clinical governance standard recommend a Clinical Review; automatically prompting clinical staff to create appropriate Followups, supporting Clinical Notes for any interventions.
Enhancements
Statement of Account
Main article: Account Statement
CareRight now supports at a patient account level, a statement of account.
My Health Record > "One Click" add to core patient record
A small but useful enhancement, a shared health summary from My Health Record now features a number of 'one click' controls to add details.
While some information will not map perfectly; this allows you to easily validate information from MHR with the patient and add it to the confirmed record.
Further enhancements in this area are planned
Immunisations
Main article: Immunisations & Immunisation History
CareRight now supports the immunisation record of an individual.
Discharge Letters > Recent Observations available as replacement variables
It is now possible to include a series of measurements over time, ie similar to what has been collected in an observation chart.
This allows clinicians to highlight areas of concern.
Discharge Letters > More replacement variables
We have improved a number of areas commonly written into discharge letters; with a large number of bug fixes and tweaks.
Discharge Letters > Ability to write letter on discharged admission
We have relaxed restrictions around when a discharge letter can be written; to be written as a followup activity.
Discharge Plan > Surfaced more information gathered through admission
So that it is clearer and easier to understand what and when events occurred through the admission process; we have brought together the common components that are referenced when writing a discharge letter.
Further product enhancements are planned in this area.
Discharge Letters > Ability to upload PDF
In correspondence, it is now possible to upload a letter in PDF format from an external system, assessment or similar.
This small but important change enables two things:
- Results, observations, scans or similar can be shared via secure messaging; where the size limit is 512kb or less (healthlink)
- Letters or assessments related to discharging a patient can be generated externally; even from other systems. When uploaded as a Referral Discharge Letter; this can be published to My Health Record.
This assists organisations in meeting NSQHS Action 1.18.
Contacts > Ability to Merge into other Contact, Patients
If an individual has made multiple enquiries and has many contact records; they can be consolidated to one individual.
Contacts > Ability to Archive
If a contact from an enquiry is no longer relevant, their details can be archived. They will no longer appear in search result unless "Show inactive records" is selected when searching
Accessibility and Usability > Dynamic Table of Contents
Via User Profile, a new setting is available.
This enables a faster context sensitive navigation mode; particularly suited for longer assessments, admissions and forms.
Providers > Provider Dashboard and locked down access
Experimental feature: This is not generally available to all customers at this time, and is subject to further revision.
For customers where providers operate with a limited subset of patients; ie as a third party contracted clinician; CareRight now supports a specific Provider Dashboard experience.
Where a provider is granted a new permission; view_own_patients; access to that patient record is only granted where there is a direct relationship via:
- Primary Provider is the logged in clinician or
- There is a case where logged in clinician is a case worker or
- There is an appointment with the logged in clincian
A more limited subset of links and options is presented to providers when logged in in this mode.
This feature is likely to further evolve, adding additional accesses (ie: Programs, Admission or Task based relationships) and is not recommended for general use.
Receipt Number Generation
Core architecture change
For a number of years, CareRight maintained feature parity with its predecessor product, The Specialist. A key component was the use of Counter Sets, which were used for the generation of various database identifiers in that legacy system.
Modern relational database systems provide the concept of sequences which fulfill the same purpose; built in as a core database concept.
We have migrated the Receipt, Refund and Invoice behaviours within the system to rely on this core database concept. As this is a low level, fundamental architectural change as this becomes available we will establish with you a pre and post go live monitoring plan to detect any issues.
