Add Custom Drugs and Compounded Formulas
Main article: Custom Drugs
If your organisation regularly uses compounded or custom medications, over and above what is available in MIMS, you will need to ensure each custom drug is configured correctly.
As per setup for My Health Record Overview, any custom drugs or compound medications should be correctly matched with the relevant AMT codes; as well as have any indicators such as schedule 8 recorded.
This enables the medication to be uploaded as an ePrescription.
Usage
Watch our Training Guide: ePrescriptions.
Create ePrescription
Patient > Create and view a prescription
Similar to regular prescribing in CareRight, when enabled and a prescription is printed for your patient, it will render a barcode.
Share ePrescription with patient
Prescribing > Share the ePrescription with your patient
Where a patient has provided either their email or mobile number, as well as indicated clinical consent; you can publish the ePrescription to them via that means.
You will also be able to provide them with a paper evidence of prescription if required.
Your patient will receive an electronic message with a link to the ePrescription, to be presented at a pharmacy for dispensing.
ASL Consent
Patient > Medications > Access
Manage Active Script List upload consent: If a patient has indicated they do not want their information uploaded into the Active Script List, you can manage patient consent. The default behaviour is consent is assumed.
Prescribers will see an indication of ASL Upload Consent, and may elect to override it.
Prescribing > Urgent Supply
Where a prescription is required urgently - often known as 'script owing' - prescribers can now indicate Urgent Supply.
This is uploaded to eRx's Portal where any pharmacy have access to download.
Prescribing > Unusual Dosage
Where a prescription is an unusual dosage - for example with a restricted medication and palliative patient, a prescriber can now indicate this in compliance with legislative requirements.
Prescribing Schedule 8 or Schedule 4 medications:
Prescribing > Restricted Substances / Drugs of Addiction, & Real Time Prescription Monitoring (QScript, SafeScript)
Where a prescriber is prescribing a drug which is restricted by legislation (such as a Schedule 8 or Schedule 4) medication, they will be required to confirm information prior to prescribing.
Coupled with appropriate RTPM software, this will ensure the prescriber will be compliant with monitoring requirements.
Main article: National Data Exchange (Real Time Prescription Monitoring) Setup
If there are issues, prescribers will see an alert instructing them to consult their RTPM software.
Note: This requires the prescriber record to have enabled National Data Exchange checking.
Upload again

Cancel ePrescriptions
Patient > View Prescription > Cancel
Where an ePrescription has been created, but you need to revoke or cancel it; simply view the Patient's medication. You will have the capability to cancel the uploaded medication.
Cancelled Confirmation
When you have cancelled, you will be presented with the information and the medication will be removed from the patient's active medications list.
Upload Again:
Pressing Upload Again will reinstate the prescription.
Prevent upload to eRx
Prescribing > Alerts that will prevent upload
When creating a prescription, if there are missing patient record details, you will not be able to upload an ePrescription for that individual. However, you will be able to create a paper prescription to ensure your patient receives the medication they require.
Prescribing > Upload failures
When an ePrescription does not successfully upload, the system will inform you of errors.
You can choose to retry creating the ePrescription, or proceed with a paper prescription.
Note: You can prescribe one drug per prescription at the moment.
