Data from the patient's record can be inserted directly into the Text Editor and used in letters and clinical notes. Replacement Variables are used for this purpose. See Using the Text Editor for more information.
We have split this section into the four types of Replacement Variables:
- General: Patient demographics, address, clinical information, admission, administrative, system
- Most Recent Appointment: Fields from the most recent (today or earlier) appointment for the patient at the time of letter generation
- Future Appointment: Fields from the next upcoming appointment for the patient at the time of letter generation
- Current Appointment: Fields from the current appointment for the patient (via Right clicking an appointment > Correspondence)

- The Most Recent Appointment replacement variables give access to certain fields on the Appointment create/edit screen.
- They use data from the most recent (today or earlier) appointment for the patient at the time of letter generation.
- The Replacement Variable name matches the field on the appointment create/edit screen.

- The Current Appointment replacement variables give access to all fields on the Appointment create/edit screen.
- These are only available within Appointment Letters
- The use the current appointment for this patient, and can be generated from:
- Appointments > Right Click on an Appointment > Correspondence
- The Variable name matches the field on the appointment create/edit screen.
- e.g. { Current Start Date } = Start Date of the appointment
