Transcribed Letter Importing

CareRight provides the functionality to allow the importation of HL7 messages provided by a transcription service.  CareRight supports two methods of integration with transcription services.

  • The first method is to act as an archiving service; The imported letters are not editable and serve for archiving on the patient record only.
  • The second method involves importing the letters as editable drafts that can then be sent within CareRight.

Letters imported as editable drafts

Results will come into CareRight and if unable to match, the user will be able to set the patient and provider of the letter.  The patient needs to be matched to a patient record. If the letter can't be automatically matched then the message will be stored in the Unmatched Tab in the Correspondence menu.

The following fields will be utilised in the matching process: ID, Patient Name, Patient DOB & Patient Gender. If 3 fields match a single patient record then a match can be done automatically. If no matches, or more than one patient matches, the letter will need to be manually matched. The MR identifier will be either an MRN or CRN based on the configuration in the correspondence imported set.

Imported letters will be stored in the Patient Correspondence menu under the Draft tab. All letters imported are set to the status draft.

This view must show the details that were provided in the HL7 message segments (PID & PV1) as well as the letter contents. Once matched the user should be provided with the option to open the draft letter for editing (and thus setting the recipients).
